Does the age of trees verify a young earth? more....?
I heard a radio preacher say that the oldest tree on earth is only around 4,000 to 4,400 years old. Does this scientifically point to a young earth as believed by religious folks?
Thanks,

Why are there no trees older than 4,400 years? Is that evidence for Noah's flood? Thanks!

One would have to ask why there are no 6,ooo year old trees. It does seem to point to a particular time. What happened 4,000 years ago that could explain this anomaly? ;-)

No, it scientifically proves that those trees are 4,000 to 4,400 years old. That's it. Nothing else. There is plenty of scientific evidence to prove that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old. Go to a real college and take a geology course to examine the evidence for yourself.

there have been rocks found that are 4 BILLION years old, far older then any tree. the oldest rocks were found in australia. and rocks dating back to the time of the formation of the earth 4.5 BILLION years ago have been found on the moon, no those rocks didnt come from the earth and went to then moon but the same material that form the earth also went into froming the moon
the best estiamte is that in the early solar system a mars size planet hit the early earth with a glancing blow, not head on giving the earth rotation for days, tilt for seasons, and its masive molten interior that gives us volcanoes and a geo-magnetic field that protects the earth from solar radiation,
i doubt the radio preacher ever talks about the importance the moon plays to our world, mabey you should ask your own this sunday why reliogions dont give the moon and sun the credit they deserve. ancient mankind that worshiped the sun and moon had every right to do so. though they didnt understand the grand importance they both serve to our world and the evolution of life on it. on need only look at venus and mars to see examples of world without a moon, every few 10,000 years they roation wobles to the point where they flip and the poles are facing the sun
but why all thisn talk ont he moon, you question was on the age of trees. to that i say that pretrifide trees have been found in a large area in Arizona, the Petrefied forest, take a look at me link below, that fossilized trees are 3 million years old and were formed when minerals flowd into the wood turning it into stone, another thing the radio preacher wont mention. and there are rock fromations created by primitive bacteria, these formations are 3 BILLION years old at best, i cant the info im looking for on these bacteria.
so there you have a few examples of thing that are indeed far older than any tree
edit - why are there no trees older then 4400 years is beacuase nothing lives forever, and when a tree dies a quickly surcomes to natures recyclers. many trees are killed by bugs and deseace. as for a flood, doubtful. but land isnt permant. like the coast of florida 12,000 yrs ago was far bigger then today, as far a 60-100 miles out from todays coast can be found the remains of trees, the base of the trunks can be found being preserved by salt protruding into the wood. water leaves a tale-tale sign that it was around and remained in an area for some time. i live in northern indiana and we know that this are was under water long ago from lake sand and pebbles found a few feet under the surface. when bodies of water form they leave behind there records.
glaciers carve the land as they flow, thus so does water. if the world was covered then mountains wouldent have the significant amount of glacial ice dating as far back as 16,000 yrs, and the flow of such water would displace rocks found in desserts to different places. wet lands have fertile ground beacuase of years of slow generation of material, over time creating bogs and peet moss, material that at one time was at the surface of the wetlands packed over time as more amterial pialed on top, over millions of year peet bogs can turn in oil. if a flodd happend world wide then precious peet and bog would be destroyed by salt and washed away. we dont see that in our rich fertile world
lock at what happens to an area that gets hit quickly by a flood. like in indonesia, the flood (tsunami) wahsed everything away, when the water resided what was left was a mess of debris. this is what would happen if the great flood would have happend. we ould see everything mixed,

That radio preacher is making BS excuses and he knows it. He certainly didn't want to have a scientist there with him debating what he was claiming. The religions have no honest defense for what science continues to discover. . What's written in the bible represents the limited knowledge of ignorant people who didn't have a clue as to what was going on. The only ones that they are fooling are themselves.

Trees die, they do not live forever. Some live for a very long time, but they all eventually die.
