Say What? asked in Yahoo ProductsYahoo Answers · 1 decade ago

If Yahoo Answers can show you similar questions when you start a question,?

Why can't they just route the asker to the previous answers and NOT ALLOW THEM TO ASK IT over and over and over and over and over . . . . . . . . ?

I agree! I just typed in "How do I reach level 2?" and found 126 questions (although there's probably hundreds more). However, as fyre_and_reign pointed out, the questions shown aren't necessary the questions and answers that other users will want to read.

Also, some people probably won't accept an answer to another question as the answer to their question because it's not THEIR question.

While some questions do get asked many times, you would need a Cray to keep track of them all and serve as a database to route askers through.

I disagree because some of the similar questions have different details. It could be a completely different sounding question. I do see how it would help though, because I saw the same question like a fifilion times!

How true! I am so sick of seeing the same questions again and again and again.

Such as: 'How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie pop?' or 'How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?'

or the worst 'Am I pregnant?'

Have you ever read the allegedly similar questions? Some are really off-base and NOT similar. The system still has flaws. I don't want them denying me the chance to ask a legitimate question just because their software mistakenly thought someone had asked something similar before.

PLUS the people who were on Yahoo Answers at the time the old question was asked are probably not here anymore and it's new people, with new perspectives, answering mine.

So, no, I don't want them to muzzle anybody including me.
