Is there a record for the most rounds in a fight?
Which fight had the most rounds? When was it? Who were the opponents?
2 AnswersBoxing1 decade agoIs "Life on Mars" repeated on Showcase in Canada?
I've been watching "Life on Mars" on Showcase, but because of my television provider and where I live, it only gets shown at midnight, 3:30AM and 6AM on Tuesdays, and I have to record it. I programmed my video incorrectly and didn't record the episode. I looked on the Showcase Website that there is a episode on Saturday evening - does anyone know if this will be the episode that I missed?
2 AnswersTelevision1 decade agoHow much of the taxi cab fare should I contribute to?
Last night I took a taxi cab from a party with my friends home. One friend was dropped off before I was, and I took note of how much the cab fare was then, and again when I got home. Both of us said we'd pay our other friend back as we didn't have enough cash with us. Should I offer to pay my friend back for the whole journey that I travelled, or for the distance between our friend's house and mine?
What would be more courteous, or the "right" decision to make? I know personally I'd rather offer him $25 for the whole journey, rather than subtract the $8 to our friend's house, considering that he'll be paying that, than to just offer him the $17 it was to my house and he thinks I should be paying $25. Or do I just give him $25 and if he wants to pay me back the $8 difference, accept it?
8 AnswersFriends1 decade agoWhat are your favourite holiday traditions?
With Christmas just around the corner, I am interested in hearing about how other people around the world celebrate the holiday. Are there traditions that you and your family have followed for years? Is there something that you have to hear/see/do before you feel that you can get into the appropriate mode?
Personally for me, I know it's Christmas when I hear Wham's "Last Christmas", Slade's "Merry Xmas everyone", Roy Wood and Wizard's "I wish it could be Christmas everyday" and The Waitresses' "Christmas wrapping". I also enjoy watching "Robbie the Reindeer" on television, even though I've seen it every year for the last seven. I also spend time thinking about my family who I'm unable to spend the holidays with.

11 AnswersMagazines1 decade agoDo you have tips for playing sudoku?
Some of my relatives introduced me to sudoku last month, and I am slowly learning.
However, I seem to run into problems when I get too involved. I've lost count of the number of times I've ended up with the same two figures throughout the puzzle in the wrong position, and that totally throws me out of the loop.
How can I know that I'm solving the puzzle correctly before I end up erasing the whole puzzle and starting over?
And does anyone recommend any books or puzzle books that may be better suited to a beginner? The one I have at the moment is the Sudoku Puzzles from the Puzzler books, which I know I can get in Canada, where I am, as I saw it in a bookshop two weeks ago. Maybe there's something that's aimed more at my (lack of) expertise?
4 AnswersOther - Games & Recreation1 decade agoWhich areas have Monopoly games?
Everyone knows the board game Monopoly made by Parker Brothers. Which cities (or countries or parts of countries) have their own versions?
I played the original London game growing up, and tried to play the Canadian version (where everything is paid for in millions) a couple of months ago, so I know there's at least two.
Does anyone have a favourite one if they've played more than one, and what's your favourite playing piece?

Or, vice versa.
Have there been any animation figures that later appeared in comics.
If so, which do you prefer, and why?

I am just starting a new job where I get the opportunity to work from my home for four hours a day.
How can I be strict with myself and actually get the work accomplished, rather than be focused on other things?
Any other hints or tips of advice would be appreciated as well.
2 AnswersCareers & Employment1 decade agoWhen does qualifying for Euro 2008 end?
I know that the qualifying matches for Euro 2008 are on for the next few months. I was just wondering when the final match is, so that organisers know which teams have made it through to the tournament.

I play a lot of solitaire with cards. I'd like to try some new games - what do you play?

You see a sculpture (or a picture of it) and without looking for information, or asking for a prompt, you instantly can say what the name of the sculpture is, and who the sculpturer was. What is it?
7 AnswersSculpture1 decade agoDoes anyone remember a children's cartoon set on a island?
Here's what I remember about it, apart from the island setting:
- It was on BBC One, so I persume it was a British cartoon. It might not necessary have been I suppose.
- It would have aired in the late 1980s or early 1990s.
- The theme tune reminded me of Black Lace's "Agadoo". I have no idea if it was actually that, or if it was just similiar.
Does anyone have any ideas what it was? I'm sure once I see the name, or I can see any images associated with it, I can say "This is it!"
2 AnswersTelevision1 decade agoWhat's the better camera to use on holiday?
When I go on holiday, what sort of camera should I take?
A disposable camera?
A digital camera?
My camera?
I have access to all three, although the digital camera is not mine and I don't have the programmes to download photos onto my computer, so would have to get someone to possibly e-mail them to me.
I am in the progress of using both a disposable 35mm camera, and a regular camera. There's no way that I will finish the films before my holiday. But do I need to take both?
Suggestions, the pros and cons of taking one over the other, would be very much appreciated.

Is there somekind of unwritten guide to say what determines a celebrity? Is it entirely plausible that whom one person considers to be a celebrity, can't be consider a celebrity by someone else?

4 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoHow long does it take to travel from Manchester to Cornwall?
Does anyone know how long it takes approximately to travel from Manchester to Cornwall? I've never travelled between the two before, and would like an approximation of how long it takes to actually get between the two.
Please don't recommend that I use the AA Route planner, as I'm very weary of it. I agree with the approximation timings of routes that I travelled on a regular basis, but I am dubious when it comes to longer distances (perhaps it's because it gives slower timing than what my parents drove). I'd appreciate it a lot if there was someone with personal knowledge.

11 AnswersRoyalty1 decade agoWhich restaurants would you recommend dining at in or around Wadebridge, Cornwall?
It's been several years since I was in Wadebridge, Cornwall, but when I go there next month, I'm hoping to meet up with some acquaintances for a meal there. To be honest, I don't even remember what restaurants are in the area. I can only remember Barney's Fish & Chips and Barnicutts (I think that's how it's spelt, and they make local pasties - but it's not a restaurant, no where to sit and eat from what I remember), and once I went to the Earl Of St. Vincent (or something similiar).
Is there anyone who has been to Wadebridge recently and would be able to recommend somewhere? Or, anyone who lives or works in the town and thinks there's a certain eating establishment that I wouldn't go wrong in trying out if I have the chance to?
3 AnswersOther - United Kingdom1 decade agoWhat was used to create the Japanese wave?
I remember when I was in grade 6, we had to recreate our own versions of pictures using similar medium. One of them, which I never got around to recreating myself, I believe was "The great wave of Kanagawa" by Katsushika Hokusai. What medium would he have used for his original picture?
