How can I be strict working from home?
I am just starting a new job where I get the opportunity to work from my home for four hours a day.
How can I be strict with myself and actually get the work accomplished, rather than be focused on other things?
Any other hints or tips of advice would be appreciated as well.

I too work from home and the best way to get work accomplished is through the use of a day-timer. Block off your 4 hours per day in whatever time slot works best for you. Break it into 2 two hour sessions if need be.
Remove all distractions, like television and music, kids, whatever might distract you. Put the computer into it's own room and be sure that you stick to the hours you have dedicated to working. Just imagine you are in an office and alter your thinking as though you have a boss watching over you.
It works for me!
I have told my family never to bother me when I am working...don't knock on the door, don't call me, just leave me alone as though I weren't home but at work.
It takes a while to get them to understand the concept, but when they do, it's so awesome to be working from home.

Put a baby gate around your computer area. It doesn't make it impossible to leave, but makes it a real hassle and also provides a mental barrier that you are fenced in to your workstation until you finish your job. After a while, the psychological fence will remain even after you take the physical one away.
