How many Royal families are there?
I know that there are the British and Japanese Royal families, but are there any other Royal families currently? And if so, which countries do they belong to?

Someone else asked this question this week. There are twenty-nine different monarchies listed on wikipedia, two of which are definitely not 'royal' (the Vatican and Andorra) and two of which are 'iffy' (Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates - elected monarchs, so not 'royal' as we understand it). So there are 25 who still rule, though not all crowned heads' families have as public a role as the British have. There are other 'royal' families in Europe descended from past kings, but they are no longer heads of state. The would-be king of Italy is in jail awaiting a trial for pimping!

Besides Japan and the United Kingdom, the royal families still rule over Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. Also Monaco has a royal family as does Luxembourg. There is still a Romanov line for Russia out there somewhere

Does the Royal family bring enough money to British economy? Well, they have their own ventures generating wealth (so, actually their investments DO earn), and they certainly serve as tourist attraction also to increase tourism to UK. So, the actual impact of supporting the Royal family by taxpayers money is fairly limited... I used to live in London, UK for three years. I enjoyed all the time what I lived there (it is wonderful country when have learned few of their odd ways). In one occation I saw H.R.H. QE II and H.R.H. Prince Philip And have to say that, they have bit more something (like aura) than "common Presidents". I respect H.R.H. QE II but in comparsion, in my eyes President George W. Bush is something what I prefer not to write here.., but agree what one friend told: "you can find his twin in zoo eating banana...". So, "long live the Queen!".

TOO MANY! You wouldn't believe how many there are, in Europe alone! Like UK, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Holland, Spain, Monaco, and lots of others that USED to rule, but their countrymen kicked their royal a.s.s.e.s and got themselves democratic governments. But these bloodsuckers still think they are "royals"... it's unbelievable we're in the 21st century...

too many for my good, some families see themselves as royal even though they are not, just that they have a hugh bank account, they still, all of em have to squat to poop and pick up one leg at a time to put their pants on. Just like me and you.

The bolsheviks shot my greatgranparents, but my dear grandmother got away. She raised me with no money, but with manners. It's mostly inapplicable in today's world of popular culture, I am an anachronism. But, i can't help it, just as african americans can't help that their skin is black. It's in my genes, and there is no denying it.
Now the world is ruled by capitalism: consumption, addiction and greed. Honor and Virtue mean nothing. Enjoy!
Anyway, don't leave the Sassanids out of your count, from the Caucasus Mountains. I am truly Caucausian.
