    There are clay bricks consisting of a clay dug direstly from the ground and pressed into a mold and fired in an oven then removed from the mold there are cement bricks made by a mix of cement and sand into a mold and air dried , there are mud bricks made from straw and local mud and air dried.

    Brick is clay made into shape and burnt in a kiln to give its rigidity.

    What the two people above me said; they're literally fired clay. Continuous kilns are new, but the materials are not.
