He found your switch. He knows that you will react to what he said and he is getting revenge. My kids, all 5 of them, and my granddaughter have all told me that they hate me.

I just smile at them and tell them that that is their perogative, but that I still love them anyway. I don't get upset over it. There is no reason. They are saying it to make you react. After a couple times of me telling them that I love them anyway, they stopped saying it. It isnt any fun when the parent doesn't get mad about it.

Your question is too general to answer completely.

    - What kind of household does your son live in? (Parents married, divorced?)

    - Are there other siblings?

    - What kind of relationship do you and your son have? Is he able to approach you with anything?

    - What types of aggressive behavior has your son been exposed to in his home environment? Has anyone in your household said those type of words to another loved one in the house?

Usually, pre-teen adolecents are going though a big change hormonaly, psycologically and physically. Your son may not be equipped to figure out how to express his feelings, so he lashes out that he *hates* you to sort of end whatever argument you two may be having.

Sit your son down... ask him why he says these things.. keep an open mind. You might be surprised as to how he answers your question....

Probably cause he hasn't gotten a good swift kick in the @ss. That's what I give my kid when she starts acting like a spoiled brat. Cures her attitude pretty quick!

One of my kids said that to me one time and this is how I handled it. I slapped his mouth and said to him, "Now you have a reason to hate me but guess what? You still have to do what I tell you." He's never said it again!

Maybe he feels neglected, and he wants attention drawn to himself
