Don't you think it would be gross to see grandparents with shriveled up tatoos?Young people now that have tons of tatoos will be grandparents one day...what sort of impression will that leave on their grandkids?

Yeah, that's what my mom said when I got my tattoos. I'm 38 now, I don't have any kids let alone grandkids, but I'm not sorry that I got the tattoos, and I don't imagine I ever will be. In fact, I'd like to get more. So I'll be a freaky old lady. So what... I was a freaky little kid, a freaky teenager, and a freaky young adult, as well. But that's just me.

That said, a lot of people are going to regret their tattoos later in life. Right now, it's a fad, so virtually everybody's doing it. Which means there's greater odds of some of the people with tattoos regretting it later. But it also means there's greater odds of these people, when they're old and wrinkled and regretting their tattoos, being able turn to the elderly person next to them in the retirement home and compare tattoos and talk about how foolish they, and many others in their generation, were to have gotten them.

But it's just superficial... it's not gonna have any real changing effects on our lives. And I bet MOST grandkids would think having tattooed grandparents was pretty cool.

So I'm 24. The way that I see it is, when I'm older most of the people close to my age will also have tattoos. I don't think it is going to be a big deal to see an old lady walking down the street with tattoos because it will be very common once I get there. My fiance is a tattoo artist and I don't think that is a bad impression on my daughter. She is 16 months and already very interested in drawing and coloring. So I'm thinking that it is a good influence on her because she will appreciate art in general.

Styles come and go and that is just the price peeps will have to pay. However, behind most tattoos are stories as well. Instead of getting grossed out, maybe ask a question in a respectable tone. For instance my cousins tattoo on his chest was a tribute to some important people in his life including his niece that died at two yrs old .The tattoo on my aunts leg is a rememberance of her only grandchild that passed at 3 yrs old(different branch of the family). I highly recommend that you watch miami ink, good show and shows some of the stories behind the tatoos. I can't wait to get mine for my gram---

We can't go through our lives worrying about how much we'll regret something like a tattoo. Life's too short for worrying, or even assuming we're going to make it to grand-parenthood. It's a mark of something you've done in your life. Your grandparent could have written a book, even a bad book, and the grandchildren would know about....it's just another thing.

What's with all you people thinking that tattooing is a fad? I'm 40 and have been getting tattoos since I was 18. Thats 22 years. Pretty long time for a fad, wouldn't you say?

Right now, I have seven tattoos and have my next three planned. I'm not done by a long shot. I'm guessing that when I'm 70, I'll still be getting tattoos.

If you don't like them, don't look.

Ive worked with the elderly who have tattoos. They are basically hard to read and make out but back then the ink wasnt good.As for the future I think it will be no big deal cause it will be the norm.

My mum didn't have her first tatoo until she was 50. She looks fantastic and if I ever have kids, I would teach them not to judge a book by it's cover...............what sort of impression do you think showing prejudice has on kids? HTH : )

Well think about it. Think if you have a tatoo. When you get old and have grandkids and are old and shrively. People don't think about it when they get a tatoo. Even think when you get married and you have a huge tatoo on your neck.
