Giving money is helpful but you shoudn't give what you can not afford. It is unfortunate that you gave away so much. That is probably a hard life-lesson you have learnt and you don't feel any satisfaction because you don't see what good it does in real terms, nothing tangible for you to make you feel good.

You "still want to help"? Then first, ask yourself - what can you or are you willing to do to help them? Second, if you help, how will that "help" assist the organisation? May be volunteering might be good.

I can understand other answers about scams - and people's reluctant to help charity because sometimes not all money always goes to the right places. ALWAYS check that it is not scam. Guide dogs association ALWAYS give you receipts with proper logos and letterhead.

The best way to give to the guide dogs is to buy products from them - this way, you are not giving out cash (and prevent people scamming money from you by pretending to collect money)

I personally helped the guide dogs association for a few years now. I bought a first aid kit from them. They also sell bath towels. And regularly, I buy wines from them. Their products are good quality (wine is from Tyrells in the Hunter Valley) and the supplier give a percentage to the guide dogs association. So - it is win -win all round. You get a product, the supplier make money and the association gets some moeny as well.

Maybe you should look within and ask yourself why you gave to this charity. Was it truly to help others or was it to help yourself. If you are looking to feel better from charity then perhaps you need to consider yourself a little more, what is missing in your life. Remember, one shouldn't give for personal satisfaction or glory, one only truly gives of them self quietly and without need for recognition.

It's hard because you can't see what your money went towards. It's just a hole in your life savings now. Try volunteering some time there and then you'll see what a great cause you contributated to. It might help. Try letting them know what you did and that you stil want to help. Maybe they can let you help with the dogs or something.

I havea a problem giving to charity because I know that a lot of the money goes to managers who earn enough already. You should really find out before giving how much money REALLY goes toward the actual cause.

Lots of scams out there as well.......

Feelings are not reliable. You know that you did a good thing. It was quixotic, but you are still young. Satisfaction, the best satisfaction, will come after you keep doing for others, and you hear Him say, "When you gave unto my least ones, you gave unto Me."

if you don't feel any satisfaction then you shouldn't have give the money... it was a foolish thing to do... the people from charity are stealing and i doubt the money goes to the ones you wanted to go... sorry

if you can no longer extend help to the charity which you are stating, write a letter to the ward and state your reasons for quiting to give help or assistance
