Burning to CD-R?
If I've burned something on the CD-R, and the CD-R space is not yet used up, can I continue to burn other things inside? Can it be done?

By default, yes! However, it depends upon the software used. The integrated CD burning interface from Windows does let you fill the remaining space with other data, and so does Nero Burning ROM. Most programs have an option called 'Close disc'. A closed disc does NOT allow further data to be added, whilst the open one allows adding new 'sessions'.
The easiest way to add new data is to use the software that is integrated in windows, where you just drag the data in the CD's root folder and click 'burn this data to CD'. In Nero you must use the 'continue multisession disc' option.
If you use another software and want to know further particularities, ask ;)
