removing the rotor from a generac 5000kw generator?

I have removed the stator and the rear bearing carrier but the rotor will not move. I have been letting it soak with WD-40, this is the second day.

    The rotor connects to the crank shaft of the motor. The crank shaft end is tapered and the rotor has the female (internal taper) to match. There is a long bolt that goes through the rotor and threads into the end of the crank. When tightened, this is what holds the rotor to the crank shaft. I will walk you through a process in which you can remove the rotor from the crank easily. Measure the diameter of the long bolt that goes through the rotor. Find a piece of rod that is a bit longer than the rotor bolt. Make sure the rod you find is larger than the bolt diameter. (extremely important) The rod has to be a larger diameter than the rotor bolt because if it is the same size or smaller you will damage the crank threads. I can't express it enough. (MAKE SURE IT IS LARGER THAN THE ROTOR BOLT) slid the rod through the rotor until it hits the end of the crank, then take a ball peen hammer and strike the rod sharply a few times and the rotor will come right off. Please make sure the rod you use just fits through the hole, it MUST be larger than the rotor bolt...Good luck!!!

    I will second blacktrai's answer but don't use a steel rod. Go to a machine shop and go ahead and spend the money for a brass rod of the correct diameter. It may be 5 or 10 bucks but it will be cheaper than replaceing the shaft and there is a good chance of doing so with a steel rod. You have to buy one or the other anyway. Atleast you will have the brass for when you need it again, and it is very handy if you do this type work anywher close to often.

    that is somewhat unusual to me that no air flow brought concerning the windings to fail. i believe the motor may have over heated if that develop into the issue. A burnt winding is known an electric powered difficulty mutually with to a lot load, a short to floor and convinced warmth yet no longer by skill of air flow. it is going to be counted on the unit itself to carry close right here the way it comes aside. those I artwork on do no longer press on thank goodness. sturdy success
