be the bigger person and get him something..... i would be pissed if my gf didnt get me anything even if i told her not to.... it should be an automatic that you do even if they said dont and dont get you anything

First you need to find out the reasons why he did not buy you a gift last Christmas. It could be because he has no money. Christmas is about giving and forgiving thus it would be nice if you could give him a gift. Everybody deserves a second chance!

would not worry about it having you as a girlfriend should be enough of a treat for him any day of the week or any Holiday if you feel you need to get him a nice card and write something sweet in it caring for someone isn't about gifts
