Well, I know that you CAN NOT carry any kind of fruits or vegetables on the plane due to FDA Regulations. Also don't carry any nut & peanut products on the plane due to allergic reactions.
Best advice, contact the airline and they will tell you what snacks are the best to carry on the plane.

Basically, nothing with a smell that can disturb other passengers, nothing that may carry disease. If you purchase food in the duty-free area it should be okey to carry it on board. Anyway, food on board the plane is not as bad as some people make it, if you dont like it theres alwys bread, chocolate and water available from the air hostess. :D

I have not heard of ANY limitations of that that you can carry ON board to eat.. the problem is or might be, however, is when you land.. If you have anything left over, they might not let you carry it pass the customs place and dthey would confiscate it... After all.. they have to eat also
