- yes. my or my family's health.
- yes, my whole week's out of whack then.
- because committment to the church is part of what it means to follow Christ.
- male
- grace, ultimately
- no
- I want to, but sometimes I let it slide
- I do devotional reading from the New English Bible
- I teach 5th grade Sunday School
- God has come to us in the person of Jesus Christ when there was nothing we could do even to know we had a problem. Through his teaching we learned what it means to live not just a merely good life, but a Christlike life of obedience, and through his obedience which led to death, Christ somehow saved us from ourselves. When Christ was raised from the dead, it was the sign, the sign of Jonah, that Christ wasn't just a prophet or a teacher or a good guy, but the Son of God, whose life is worthy of our perfect imitation.
- No. There is not adequate precedent for this in Christian theology. The early Christians didn't believe it, the medieval church didn't teach it, and the Puritans certainly didn't believe it. Luther probably did, and I know that American revivalists taught assurance, but that's not enough. Election is a secret.
Please, PLEASE email me and let me know what you are up to. If you are looking to correlate religious behavior frequency with theology, try a book called "Vanishing Boundaries" by Dean Hoge, from Westminster John Knox Press
