Ex Parte Custody Service??!! Help!!?

I filed an Ex Parte order to show cause for my 22 month old daughter. My ex husband was diagnosed being bi-polar in around May of this year. When I orginially filed for custody in July, part of the Court Order specified that he was supposed to continue therapy with his counselor and continue her therapy plan. He has not been seeing her for about 3 1/2 months & is NOT taking his bi-polar medication. I found out some information from his new fiances web page where he ignores my daughter, yells at her, doesn't change her diaper, etc., Also, he has her in a twin size bed with no guard rails, and no sheets on the bed. I filed an ex parte last friday & the hearing is scheduled for this wednesday. Does anyone know when I have to serve him with the paper work? I was told only 24 hours before, but do I have to do a proof of service or can I stick it in his mailbox & call to advise him it's there? Anyone with any input on this WHOLE situation, please share. Thanks!!!
