What is a nice hair color for african americans with darker skin I currently have dark brown?

Any color from silver white to raven black. I've seen blonde, brown, red on dark skin and I think it's beautiful. With darker skin, I think it is harder to get a hair color that will clash with the flesh tones. I think people with lighter skin color have to be a bit more careful with the hair colors they choose as they may easily wash out or overwhelm their skin color.

I think some people may find blonde hair with dark skin as clashing, but I think it is because they are not used to seeing it. It takes a strong personality to carry this off because it is not yet accepted as "natural" in society.

A dark brown with golden highlights in different shades would be nice and may give a more sunkissed natural look.

I am not African American nor have I ever dyed my hair, so my advice is probably bordering on useless hehehe. Take it as someone who has a lot of experience in seeing hair.

Dark brown is nice with some blondish highlights if you absolutely must have something different but don't go the red for everyone has it-go to a good colorist so the highlights can look like natural sunkissed hair. If you are very dark would look good to have some Blue side streak-on one side near the top or some very dark blue highlights.The very light blonde looks good on very short hair but would only do the tips for to have such a drastic color change is stressful to the hair and eventually it will cause extrememly dry hair and to only do the tips will have the color last longer requiring fewer touch-ups. Go to a wig shop and try different colors to see what looks good on you before you do it.

It really depends on your coloring and how bold you are. If you are looking for something subtle you may want to go for some low lights. Or if you want to go a bit bolder try highlights. You can even change you base color is you are tired of it and have some nice blond, gold or red highlights put in. You will have to invest some money whenever you are dealing with coloring your hair, especially if your hair is relaxed. Hair is weakened by the sodium hydroxide used in relaxers. So when you add color on top of the the hair is more likely to suffer breakage. You should go to a salon anytime you color your hair. You may get away with doing it yourself the first time, but the second time I guarantee you will run into problems, if not fry all of your hair off. See a colorist for a consultation first. I am a caramel-chocolate complexion with warm undertones and I color my hair anywhere from black to 27 which ranges from black to a medium brown blonde hair color, including colors, 30,33,any black-brown combination completion. if you are not familiar with hair color numbers go to a hair store in you area. Being African-American I don't think a platinum shade of blonde is not flattering

Add some golden highlights or dye it a light brown. Beyonce has a nice color on her hair but I don't know what it is.

My Cousin is a dark African American and all she did was add light brown highlights. works like a charm. looks good and is not to drastic

I think the natural dark hair is best. I can remember a dark skinned beauty really impressing me. Everything about her was natural. Her hair was dark and natural as was her hair style. She was slim and very clean and well groomed. One could tell she had immense pride in herself. That's what made her so attractive.
