Cheap NZ vacation?

I will soon be traveling to New Zeland and am looking to see as much of the country as i can for as cheap as possible. I have no objections to hostels, or camping, any suggestions for places to go, things to do and places to stay??

Kiwi Experience is good if you're looking to see a lot in a short span of time. Its a bus tour kind of like NZ's version of Contiki and they take you to a lot of destinations around the country. There are far too many places to suggest, and it depends what you want to do as well. If you're travelling in Jan-Feb, its probably the best time to do summer activities like hiking, camping, water sports, lounging at the beach etc. Check out some of these links:

I have spent countless months traveling across New Zealand, both north and south islands. If you really want to experience N.Z. this is what you do. Go to a bigger city- North Island: Auckland, South Island: Christchurch. Next go to any of the number of hostels and by a car. You can find really decent cars for $600- $1200 NZ. Registering a car is as easy as going to the post office... literally. Go to the post office and register your car ($50max.= 3 months) This also includes insurance. Decide if you want to camp, stay in hostels, hotels, set up in the woods. NZ is really laid back, I wouldn't doubt that you'll meet someone that will let you stay at their flat for a day or two. Near the end of your trip find a copy machine, make up some "For Sale" signs and put them in hostels and hotels as you travel around. Just put your email address on it and people will respond. The last time is was in NZ it took me three hours to find a car for $600NZ and it took me less than two days to sell it for $400NZ after using it for three months. Prepare to fall in love, NZ is awesome. HAVE FUN!

In N.Z. they have these "trailer parks" .There the Trailer is one bed ,no toilet size. The Park has a communal type shower divided by sex.

Inside these "Trailer Parks" they always have a few fully furnished W/silverware & cooking utensils for about 1/3 of a "Motel Price" plus you get to meet the "real" people.
