My other half the chef states that you'll need 5-6lbs of 30-36 per pound shrimp. What that means is the size of the shrimp and for shrimp cocktail 30-36 per pound is a good size. I would lean towards 6lbs. as you never can have to much when you are entertaining, Ice em up and have a good party.

It depends what size of shrimp you are serving 31-40, standard. The numbers are how many shrimp are in each pound roughly. I don't know what you are serving or how you are preparing it, but I would go for 3 lbs as some people are shrimp whores and some are not, but figure 2 to 3 pieces each.

It would depend on the size shrimp you use but we can easily figure this out. If we were to use 20 count headless shrimp per pound, which are a nice sized shrimp, I would figure 2-3 shrimp per person. I'm assuming that there will be other hors de ouvres as well. If there are no other selections, then double the shrimp.

4.5# of shrimp will feed 30 people 3 per person.

I would make about four types of appetizers (one can be the shrimp) plus cheese and crackers (a favorite for wine tasting parties).....you will need 4-5 hor d'oeuvres per person....depends on your budget, you can plan one shrimp per person or three, but I would have a selection, some people actually don't eat shrimp ....and, contrary to answer #1, most people don't expect to make a meal of the appetizers!

First of all, decide what size shrimp you are going to serve them. Betty Crocker has one of the simplest charts to read, so I have included it. On the same website is also a guide to planning food for a crowd under "charts and references".

Smaller shrimp sometimes make people want to take more as opposed to larger which make them think they are getting more. They figure if they can heap a bunch of them on their plate then all is good, but with the larger ones if only two fit they are usually content with them and fill up with the rest of the spread on the buffet. Usually they will come back, but only take one or possibly two more.

    Hope this helps.

Two pounds of shrimp per person should do it. Some people will eat more, but some people will eat fewer. Then there are some that just don't like shrimp and won't eat any.

if the party is at dinner time, folks will eat lots.

it really depends what and how much other foods you are serving.

The shrimp is always the most popular.

    order 1/2 pound per person.....

that's about a dozen large shrimp per person.

I'd say you need about 750 shrimp to feed those peeps. This will give everyone at least 25 shrimps each.

That is hard to say but then again many people really do like shrimp very much like I do so, if you can afford it, allow one pound or more, per person.I am sure they will fly off the table.

Get some great flour tortillas - unfold with gentle cream cheese - chop a can of black olives and a few reliable slices of ham or turkey pastrami - finely chopped green onion too. Layer onto the tortillas and them roll up. acceptable before serving them cut back them right into a million inch around slices and placed on a platter dealing with upward. those seem dazzling and flavor so great. this could be a standard recipe to alter up somewhat with different factors. get excitement from!!
