fever of 102 night before ankle surgery?

I just came down with 102 temperature the night before a tendon repair surgery in my ankle. Does anyone know if they'll, mostly likely, postpone the surgery? I don't have any other symtoms at all....just chills and no appetite.

Thanks

They probably won't be doing the surgery if you are febrile. Your doctor should have an after-hours answering service. Give them a call and see what they say.

Hi Missy, They always take your temperature before surgery. They will postpone your surgery until you have no fever. It's very high about infection while having surgery. A fever you would most likely get an infection. It's only for your welfare that your surgery would be postpone.

Yes they will most definitely postpone the surgery! If they do not you need to go to another hospital. Having a fever and then being put to sleep causes all kinds of complications.

Call your doctors office. Let them know. If they think it's best to postpone, you don't have to worry about fasting.

I wouldn't do it. Inform them beforehand and see what they say, most likely they'll be against it.
