Im only 12, but i help the Prep teachers at skool so i know what 5 yr olds like! tho he might not be able to move you could get a
mobile to hang above the weel chair or you could by a few toys and make a mobile out of them, for instanse get a teddy and tie some cool ribbon round it then attatch it to a bit of wooden dowling to put above the weel chair!

how about a cool kid movie if he can sit still to watch it otherwise I would suggest if you truly want to give him a gift, give it of yourself. In other words ..spend some quality time with him, read to him talk to him eat with him take him out for an ice cream and don't be embarrassed to be with him. He is likely OK in the head and will know what you did for him.

Buy him a nice book that they can read for him. He might be immobile but his imagination isn't necessarily so.
All the best!
