For me, respect is earned not given. Because too many people in positions of authority tend to get a big head about it and act like a jerk. And I don't care if you're in a position of authority or not, I don't give respect to people who act like jerks. Why should I have to give you MY respect when I'm not getting respected as even so much as a human being in return? No..I don't automatically respect authority, but when it's earned and deserved I give it. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".

No. I respect competency, and that isn't often found in authority

yes, I do. To a point, I have my limits, though. It's hard for me, especially with cops, that wanna write tickets to people, yet they're some of the worst drivers around. Speeding, ( without a reason, that is ) and most of them never heard of a blinker, either...

Only if they deserve it. I tend to respect the position not the person holding the positiion ie--the president.

yes, because in Texas if you don't show respected for the police you go to jail....................
