What's the worst traffic situation you've been in?

It could be a traffic accident, car breaks down on freeway, or something traffic related that you wish never happened?

Being stuck on I-5 on any summer Saturday morning/afternoon from

The El Toro Y (I-5 / I-405 merge) all the way to the I-5 / I-805 split in Del Mar, CA.

Yep that is about 70 miles of non stop bumper to bumper traffic. Nothing worse than to be stuck in traffic in front of a nuclear power plant. :-o

    Two that compete:

    1. Because of flooding and highways being rerouted, it took 6.5 hours to go what should have been about an hour. I was with a woman I was kinda dating, and 6 hours in the car in traffic killed that relationship!

    2. Heading for a 0am business meeting I was heading down the Jersey Turnpike and a Snapple truck overturned 2 miles down the road. Since the road closed and there are no exits, it took 4 hours before we even moved. Needless to say when I got there at 2pm I missed the meeting.

The Texas Transportation Institute released the top five cities with the worst rush hour. Houston ranked 4th and Dallas did not place in the top 5. According to the study, construction projects to address traffic bottlenecks have created their own problems and new bottlenecks. (Anyone in Houston can attest to that.) The top five cities for the worst rush hour follows: 5. New York City, NY 4. Houston, TX 3. Los Angeles, CA 2. Chicago, IL 1. Washington, DC In another study, the Urban Mobility Report reported the ten most congested cities in America (not just rush hour but overall traffic congestion). Dallas ranked 7th worst and Houston ranked 4th worst. The top ten cities follows: 10. New York, NY 9. Atlanta, GA 8. Seattle, WA 7. Dallas, TX 6. Boston, MA 5. San Francisco, CA 4. Houston, TX 3. Los Angeles, CA 2. Chicago, IL 1. Washington, DC

That would be the time, my car went off a 3 foot embankment and slid along the edge for another 25 feet before coming to a stop. The car was on it's side. I was knocked out, so I guess the traffic wasn't that bad.

I was on the highway and there was a big accident ahead of me. They closed down the highway for 3 hours. No one could move. I had to sit in my car and wait for 3 hours not moving anywhere just waiting to go home after a long days work.

Atlanta -- for the last 40 years it has been the standard by which all other American cities measure insane traffic, insane traffic jams and really insane speeds.

I was driving in N.Y. city when a taxi cab in the far right lane blew his horn and then proceeded to cut across four lanes of traffic and do a "U" turn
