RadioShack vs. Wireless store?
i currently work for radioshack. i never had a problem to complain about but i am looking deeply into working for a wireless store. preferably sprint or cingular because i heard they pay well and im very knowledgable in both, plus in my area its the fastest growing companies. so my question is should i stay with RS or a wireless company. what are the benefits, or anything i should consider? has anyone ever done this transistion and was satisfied? please help so i may decide for the new year

Sprint Wirelss Retail Stores (part of Sprint company) used to pay about $10 per hour plus commission. Commission used to be about $500-$600 per month. I am sure this can vary a bit, but this is the ball park and the insurance benefits were pretty good.
Have not worked for Cingular proper but had a job offer with a reseller. Their offer was min wage (here in FL $6.40) plus about another $1000 in various commissions for plans and phones on the table with full benefits.
Advancement opps better with Cell companies because there is other stuff besides store managment to rise into.
The only real issue that I can see is these tend to be stressful environments. Sprint is manic about measuring everything, your sales, your customer satisfaction ratings, your bathroom breaks, if it can be counted, they do it.
Took me six years but I finally had enough of being treated like a kindergardener over stuff that means nothing and I left. I don't make as much now but I am much happier.
Hope that helps.
