I know a lot about band and band classes, because both of my parents are band teachers themselves. I know that there are a lot of mean, not well trained band teachers out there, and I'm so sorry you're stuck with one of them! Band really can be fun, but sometimes it takes lots of effort, determination, and endurance to make it that way.

Right now since you're failing, which is no fun, you might need more help than just practicing alone a half hour a day can give you. If you can afford it, maybe get a nice, good trumpet teacher who can get you private lessons. If a professional is to expensive, maybe one of your friend's parents knows how to play the trumpet and can give you some help. Also, listen to some great trumpet players like Lois Armstrong so you know what you're supposed to sound like.

I know band is a lot more fun with friends to talk to, but maybe try to pay a little more attention and do less socializing, at least until you're caught up. Instead of chatting with a person next to you while your teacher's working with the flutes or whatever, try doing the fingerings to the song you're working on. That way you get to practice your parts right in the middle of band. Just do it quietly so you don't get in trouble.

Try these, and you'll probably improve greatly on trumpet, and enjoy band more. The year is all ready half way over, so try to at least stick it out until summer. After that, if you still absolutely despise band, switch interments, (I've seen some horrible trumpet players do fabulous on a different interment,) or quit.

If you don't like playing the trumpet or any other insturment and you are just in band class bcuz of your friends then you need to drop out. you can hang out with your friends at other times like lunch or after skool or on the weekends. IT is a waste of money for no reason if you don't really like it. It also takes alot of dedication so think about it a little longer ....that F will hurt your over all grades so it would be better to just drop the class

I study presently that music training help advance math skills, language skills and young ones that have them have larger SAT and different attempt scores. i could end out this twelve months if I have been you, possibly exchange gadgets and so on. even with the undeniable fact that, i think of there is something else bothering you. possibly the band nerd element or something like that. i could consult with my mum and dad and tell them the certainty why you hate band class, yet do it gently and rationally. basically possibly they'll come over on your section.

do your best... if its not working out for the rest of the year.. then drop the class.. i know what you mean... I just went through the same thing.. but what i did was my family could use a keyboard... and so we took it into the music store and traded it in for something we could get and use... you could probably get 300 out of it... and then whatever u buy.... you might have to pay a lil bit more... But my family has a ministry so it totally worked out for us.. I hope this helps.. blessings.. God lvoes you.. you're absolutely special!

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

leave the class and find a new teacher. If they really are your mates, they'll stay in touch, and if they dont like the teacher either, then maybe they can change with you
