Are there any Doberman Pinscher owners out there?
I just got a 4 month old puppy and need help naming him and introducing him to my two cats. So far the cats are locked in the bathroom while he adjusts to his new home. And he keeps going outside to bark but I don't know why.
Thank you for feedback. I'm afraid the cat will hurt the dog because she's overly agressive (the cat has been approaching the dog).
Can you guys share your dogs' names with me?

I have had dobermans for over 17 years.
I have a cat now and have for years.
Introduce them but be sure you give the cats a place to get away from the dog.
Be ready to very firmly correct the dog for chasing the cats. Dobes will chase cats and some can not live in the same home with cats. If you start now and work hard at it they should be fine but the first time he chases get after him like you are going to kill him and he should learn fast that it is NOT ok to chase them.
As for the barking that will get worse as he gets older and more protective of the home. Now he most likely is just playing.

We have our second Doberman now. He was kept chained until 6 y.o., (by abusive former owners) and when my sister moved in with her two cats, he would give chase. 4 months old is very young and hopefully he will have no problems with cats. If he does, you have many options, such as cutting a "mousehole" in a bedroom door and always leaving that door closed, so they can escape when he becomes too much.
Dobermans like to bark. Mine is 10 years old and he still enjoys running circles in the back yard barking at ?!?!?! Sometimes dogs, sometimes nothing! The barking is something you will have to get used too... Dobes are a particularly barky breed!

Oh, your puppy must be so adorable. I had a wonderful Doberman for many years, but she is now gone. He name was Angel. I also had two cats. Your Dob will do just fine. Introduce him to the cats. They will all gain a respect for one another in time and will become great friends. Best of luck.

I have a new doberman puppy. For about 2 weeks, she would do the same things, she would go outside and in the kitchen sit down and just start barking. But it was because she was gettin used to our house and our big back yard. give it a few weeks

He's still getting used to the home, so he'll bark a lot. Introduce him to the cats now. If he gets too close, they'll let him know. He'll learn to respect them very soon, and I'm sure eventually they'll grow together to be friends. I envy you, I had to put my dobe down because of cancer. Enjoy your dog. Best of luck to you.

GET THE CATS OUT OF THE BATHROOM!!!
they need to start adjusting as soon as possible.
you don't want the dog to be territorial!!!

I had one as a teenager...his name was Jake. I really loved him! great temperment & easy to train. Although he used to bark at birds...so maybe he sees birds or squirrels.
