It is a very unfortunate state of affairs that a child would kill another person. It should not happen. However it does and this trend seems to be increasing. The reason is, in my opinion, a lack of discipline. This creates an avenue of total disrespect for anything or anyone. When I was a teenager I knew right from wrong. This was in spite of coming from a totally dysfunctional family. I think it is true by the time we reach the age of reason our morals have been formed.

Rehabilitate? I don't think so. This is guess work at best and the success rate is poor to nonexistant. Check the statistics.

Check backgrounds? Well yes, but this is after the fact.

Could we do more? Of course we could, by giving the children a much stricter and regimintated upbringing at home and at school.

This will never happen because it would be cruel and unusual in todays society.

What drives them to kill? They are amoral

How many have been loaded with drugs? Surely some, but not all. The drug problem could be nonexistant for the most part if EFFECTIVE proceedures were employed. They will never be.

America rid death penality? No I think there are other crimes that are deserving of the death penality.

England have the death penality? Why not?

Deterant to others? It sure does work for me. I have known people that I would have killed in a New York Minute had it not been for Judges, prison and the death penality. I day in jail is more than enough reason not to kill. I simply could not stand it.

  • the death penalty is totally wrong!!! no matter where you are. look at it this way, the guy who kills the criminal technically just killed someone, so should he die too???

or how about this, the people who die don't learn a lesson, they just die, theres no lesson in that its all over in a matter of months. the people who spend their entire life in jail may learn a lesson, of cours the jails in the U.S. are no good, the crimanals live a better life than the army so the jails need work as well.

No idea what drives the kids, they could very well be on drugs, but what influenced them to be on drugs, peer pressure or parental pressure or being tricked into addiction??? the world has become a scary place and it really should be fixed.

America should get rid of the death penalty, and england should stay as far away from it as possible, and it may make a deterant if more people start to live a real prisin life instead of a glorified homeless shelter.

There is no scientific proof or statistical backing of the death penalty or prison in general deterring crime. Crime has been on a gradual leveling in America and has been for the last four years. That is, until the recent onslaught of natural disasters such as the Katrina Hurricane. That’s another story. As for the death penalty, these crimes must have been serious enough to have initiated and elevation in their juvenile status to that of a criminal adult for the DP to even be incurred. DP requirements also vary from state to state so look up your state facts on their local or government websites or libraries also. The act of killing is instinctual hence I despise the ill use of the word kill in such circumstances. The word in question is murder. For anyone to commit murder there are varying characteristics of personality and environmental and social influences that aid in the evolution of a murderer. Some are based on the crimes being one of passion or iron will. Intention is the key to viewing the case by case point of any murder. There are various factors you should consider. As for the elimination or continuation of the death penalty, it’s a bit ironic seeing as the execution of a person costs double to ten times the amount of feeding an inmate for the next ten years of a life sentence. Cost wise, the less executions the better. There have been alternatives searched such as eliminated unnecessary costs to include downgrading from high security prison installation to military fashioned fenced camps. One state in particular has learned to economize of sorts. Then again, American prisons are being overrun with overcrowding due to a lack of DR executions that can range from 7 to 15 years. A time consuming task that ties up courts and money and time. There is no yes or no for your question. Sorry. Just brew over the facts a bit.

yes i agree with it. there should be death penalties for all ages. lets say some 15 year old goes and kills your mom and dad. if that ever happens your not just going to want the kid to serve some time and get out. your going to want the kid/ child killed and i would too. by the way you say look into there back ground. well if you do that and see that the kid has numerous accounts of crimes, do you think letting the kid go is going to solve anything. i dont think so, so killem

Roper v. Simmons overturned the juvenile death penalty in the US two years ago. I don't agree with the death penalty for anyone for any reason, but we can't execute anyone under 18 anymore! Of course we can do more to help kids in the US: we could feed & cloth them, educate them, make sure they had access to health care, intervene more and faster in cases of abuse. The list goes on. It's pitiful what we do to our kids and then just punish as adults after we helped create them.

I don' agree with the death penalty for anyone, so I would have to say no. In America, it costs alot more to kill someone than it does to keep them in prison for the rest of their lives. That's a waste.

question really doesn't apply seeing how the Supreme Court rules that you have to be over 18 to get the death penalty now, those convicted and sentenced to death before the ruling were re sentenced to life in prison.

If they commit a crime that warrants the death penalty then yes they should get the death penalty. Do an adult crime do adult time. Just my opinion.

There's a saying "an eye for an eye" If someone does a crime the punishment should fit the crime. There are some people that might be worth rehabilitating but there are also those who refuse to change.

If they are old enough to take another human life then life itself is not very important to them. They need to be eliminated for the sake of all the good people of the world. As far as trying rehabilitation, I think you would have more success teaching a pig to fly.
