The blood of the Christians is the Seed of the church?

"The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church" means that you cannot wipe out Christianity by killing off Christians; rather, when Christians are persecuted and killed for their faith, the church grows stronger and more people become Christians.

Not only is it a reference to the parable of the Mustard Seed found in the Gospel (where a mustard seed, though it starts out small, grows into a giant plant), it is a reference to the seed that becomes the Church after martyrdoms. To explain, a martyrdom of an individual or individuals is the greatest sign of faith someone can give, and that witness of the martyr can move many to conversion, so it is the seed, and what results from that can be incredible.

In fact, the ancient Greek word for witness is "marturios".

There are many examples of martydoms that after the martyrdoms many people converted. Those martyrs were the seed.
