Why do I lose sound in my left earbud with my iPod?
Last July I purchased a 1st generation iPod nano and listened to it for an average of 2-4 hours a day, every day. After about four months the left earbud started lagging and would only work properly if I had the earbud wire turned in some weird way. A week later the left earbud completely gave out. I bought new earbuds and within a few weeks the same problem started happening. For Christmas I recieved a new 80GB iPod video, and I have listened to it a lot since then. Yesterday the SAME PROBLEM started with the lagging left earbud, after only four days of use, with a completely new iPod and completely out-of-the-box new earbuds.
I am completely confused and frustrated with this. Must I keep buying new earbuds frequently, only to have the left earbud start lagging in a week or less?? Someone help, this is driving me insane and I don't know what to do.

Try cleaning the connection point where the earbuds plug into the Ipod. Rubbing alcohol works great. Just wet a paper towel with alcohol and wipe off the metal contacts on the connector, and twist up a corner of the paper towel so that it will fit into the jack on the ipod. Be sure not to get to much alcohol inside the jack, or you might damage the internal components. Give the alcohol a couple of minutes to dry, and reconnect the earbuds to the Ipod.

Bad connection in iPOD? that would be my guess if you are going through them so fast. Go to manufacturer website and see if others are having similar problems
