what type of best player you pick for your team?

Definitely a dominant low post. It's harder for people to stop the down low game.

You have to build a team around a dominate low post player. You may compete, but you can't win championships in the NBA without a great big man. Take for example, the Lakers, Cavs, Suns, etc. Those teams have some of the best players in the game, but they don't have a strong dominate big man. If Lebron James had a rasheed wallace, ben wallace, kevin garnett, or someone like that in the post, the cavs would win it all. And Kobe will not win another championship without a great big man. Now, college or HS ball is a different story, but the NBA is too much of a half court game these days.

everyone of those would be good as a first round pick except for reggie miller..he really doesnt do as much for his team.

It all depends on what you need..they are all good. Looking at recent playoff contenders or champions. It's good to base your team around a dominant big man (or a versatile big man) A Dirk, Duncan, Shaq etc. (even amare). This helps to draw double teams to free up the other guys.

Its always nice to have a nash or a kidd as well, a chris paul etc. These guys can make poor teams look good but wouldnt beat a team with the dominant big man. You really need both.

The Lebrones, Kobe's, Macgrady's etc. are fun to watch and great for late night ESPN highlights but lebron wont win a chamionship without a dominant big man, kobe wont without a shaq, (d-wade either), and MacGrady's only succesful when Yao's playing well...see a pattern?

You pick a play maker. However, players like Lebron go way past that. Lebron is big enough to play the post, to pull down 7-8 boards a game. He also has 8-9 dimes a game, and is able to be the league leader in scoring. Nop player in the history of the game can compare to him at such a young age. I disagree with the comment about Reggie not being a first round player. He was arguably the greatest big-time shooter in the history of the game. If my team needed 1 shot to win the game, I would want Reggie to have the ball in his hands, more then even MJ.

I would start with a dominant BIG fella. But, that would be if I were starting an expansion team from inception.

If it were a team already in existence then I would look at the needs of my team. But a dominant low-post player is a rare find these days. The NBA has so many International players who are more perimeter players even though some of them are 6'9 and taller. The perimeter game is good but sometimes you need to go in the low post. But the low-post can't win all the games for you. You need a good shooter too. So for me low-post and good shooting would work. This way I could play the inside-out game.

A versatile big man like Nowitzki is a hard commodity to find these days. He does everything a big man does and he has a three point game.

You can always move Nowitzki,Garnett, Howard, Duncan Okafor, or Stoudemire to the center position if need be.

But you can't move a Shaq, Ming, or Z. Ilgauskas to the power forward position. They are to slow.

I would take a swingman like Kobe.

Because this can could do anything.

He can shoot, dribble, attack, and be a playmaker as well. More of a all around player

Then for my second I'd pick I low post, because this would be hard to stop.

Swingman Like LeBron, cuz if I take LBJ, I can use him in different ways like a versatile big or a playmaker, due to his size and his abilities.

I think a versatile big man is hard to stop because of the mis-matches he would create. If he is a good passer, than the double teams that he would create would be very effective. a big man without decent passing abilities is not that good. point guards are important, but can be replaced. you cant replace a nowitzki, but you could replace a chauncy billips. thats my opinion, anyways!

I'd take the all star SG because if those guys need to take the game over they can start the play with the ball and make the big play themselves. A big man has to get the ball passed to him, and the assist master has to pass the ball to someone else.
