    Bound's hubby here:

The easy parts first. The "gold plated deer' was added by an owner before you. It was not added by Rock Island Arsenal.

Your M1903 Springfield was manufactured by the US Arsenal at Rock Island. If you found "RIA 613" on the rifle's barrel just behind the front sight, and there is a flaming bomb between the RIA and 613, that means that the barrel was manufactured by Rock Island Arsenal in June of 1913. If the RIA 613 is your abbreviation for Rock Island Arsenal and the the 613 is on a second line, and this information was found on the forward ring of the receiver, it is identifying your rifle as having been made by Rock Island Arsenal and the rifle's serial number is #613.

I actually believe that the RIA and 613 were found on the barrel.

With the addition of the gold plated deer, your Sprinfield has no additional collector value. Actually, if your rifle was also sporterized with that gold plated deer, the collector value may have been reduced.

    Good luck!
