You might want to consider also upgrading to more ram, or other parts. You left it highly-open ended, and if ram is your problem more software wont help at all.

First things first. Do you have room on your computers memory. Go to My Computer/ C drive/ right click- go down to properties - left click . You need at least 1 Gb of available memory to keep running. The more available memory, the faster you will be able to go. It also depends how many programs are running continuously on your computer(down by the clock). See how many things are going. The less the faster, however do keep the antivirus program running.

Try downloading and running ad-aware from lavasoft first. Bet it will find alot of you slow downs. Then try Ewido(which is now AVG7.5) thats OK it still is the same. And finish off with spybot S&D

A typical slow down of computers is spyware. Get an anti-spyware program like spybot or adaware. Also defrag the harddrive. If you have programs running in startup and you don't use them, uninstall them.

How fast is your processor? You may want to think about downloading spy-bot search and destroy. That program will get ride of spy-ware that may be slowing down your computer.
