Does anyone know who Harold Camping is and what can you tell me about him?

He founded family radio... a conservative radio network .... but alienated many people but still controls it.

He predicted the end of the world with several famous books in the early 90s. He was wrong around 93 and tried again around 94

now he tells people the church age is over and we should flee organized churches (and listen to him i suppose... even though he wrongly predicted the world would end twice)

He is probably bitter from ciritism about falsely predicting the world would end and turned against the church

I will tell you what I know, and its very limited, frankly (ha ha frankly ha ha) so here goes:

Either late in the 70's or the very early 80's, He wrote a book called "1984". Supposedly the guy says he mathimatically figured out the exact date of Christs return, and that it would be in 1984. Obviously, he was wrong, to nobody's real surprise.

In addition, he has (or at least had in the past) a radio talk show that was religious in nature, and I listened to him once or twice and he was really very harsh and grumpy. A lady called in to ask him to pray with her, and he angrily said that he doesn't pray with people that she should be able to handle that herself. The lady was a gentle nice lady who was sincere and in a bad way, and really needed just a little support- you know, a hand of kindness or something. She sure didn't get that at all.

Anyway, thats what I know of him. He was so sure of himself about the 1984 date, that he was really arrogant with people, and then when 1984 came and went, he just seemed to pretend he never heard of the book. It was really lame.

He is a well versed man who is the president of the Family Radio network, and runs the show, with live radio forums each night among other activities. His views stem from a literal sense of the bible, and he is big on hell issues. I do not agree with all of his interpretations of the bible, and he would probably try to convince me that I ws going to hell. But if I were going to hell, why would God reveal so many things to me? But he does try to do good, and that is the main thing.
