it is custom that at 12 midnight on newyear's eve you must kiss someone..?

Just WHO says it's a custom? I've never heard THAT one before - I think it's just an excuse thought up by somebody to get away with trying to snog somebody who doesn't really fancy them !

In my own opinion you don't necessarily have to kiss someone that is something that if one wishes to do they do.

In the mean time You can just as easily hug someone or wish them a Happy New Year and Shake their hand if you like

well i just had new years and i sa it definately is. its a nice build up of anticipation that good fun but can be awkward if its early in the relationship and things havnt gone so well through the night
