LILLINGTON, N.C. Dec 30, 2006 (AP)— A woman attacked a man in his genitals during a Christmas party, injuring him badly enough that he needed 50 stitches, authorities said Friday. Rebecca Arnold Dawson, 34, was charged with malicious castration in a fight early Tuesday at a party hosted by the 38-year-old man's girlfriend, police saidAll three were heavily intoxicated, police Chief Frank Powers said.
Dawson is accused of grabbing the man's genitals. Police said a weapon was not used. He declined to elaborate
Dawson does not have a listed phone number.
State law describes malicious castration as cutting off, maiming or disfiguring a person's genitals with the intent to hurt or render the victim impotent.
Dawson, who was released Wednesday on $50,000 bond, also was charged with offenses including assault causing serious bodily injury.
The castration arrest was the first of its kind in Lillington, a town of about 3,000 roughly 30 miles south of Raleigh, Powers said.

She wanted to hurt him, so she did. Women can be stinking vicious sometimes, too. She was properly arrested, and she was properly charged. She should be tried in a criminal court as well as sued for damages... though, to tell you the honest truth, I'm not sure how anybody would have enough money to make good on an injury that made somebody else's entire line of potential descendants *poof* disappear forever.

Sounds like the law was correctly applied. They should have charged her with a variety of other assault charges as well. Since there is no indication in the article that the man did anything to warrant the woman's assault other than that there was a fight, how is it you call him an aggressor and applaud her "defending" herself? Ms. Dawson sounds like she should be in a psychiatric ward.

Three drunks get in a fight, one gets 50 stitches in his genitals, and you're trying to make some statement on a woman's rights to self-defense? What part of the story is it that you don't understand? Were you a sober witness to this little shindig so that you know what actually went on there? I guess the guy would have been justified then in self-defense to reach up inside the woman and try to rip out her ovaries? You are TOO funny.
