Gordon Korman's a really good author. He has quite a few series, all of which are really quite good. I particularly enjoyed his "On The Run" series, as well as his other three series ("Everest," "Dive," and "Island," I believe). The books are pretty short, but they're really interesting page-turners. If you want to opt for something a bit longer, Tom Clancy's the man. I don't think I've ever read a bad Clancy novel, although I particularly enjoyed "Rainbow Six." Anthony Horowitz isn't a bad author either, and his Alex Rider series ("Stormbreaker," "Point Blank," "Eagle Strike," etc.) is good. I enjoyed Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl series as well. I hope I gave you some worthwhile ideas!
