Post Office?

Why do we use the term "Post Office" instead of something else? What was the origin of this term?

    The postal system originates from the ancient world where government couriers would travel from one place to another, change horses, and continue on, thus carrying important information over long distances quickly. In the Roman Empire from the name of the stations in which mail was distributed and messengers' routes crossed, derives the Latin name of mail, Posta (originally posata or pausata = place of rest) because in these stations messengers used to rest during their voyages

    Kobe-she didnt get it because of New Year's and also all govt offices were closed in observance of the death of former Pres Ford. She'll probably see it Friday.
