My dear man. Of course you can enjoy your favorite type of egg nog in July. However you will have to deal with with the Holiday PC crowd on your own. I would offer to help but I still have pains from the slings and arrows I was submitted to when I committed the blasphemous act of eating Chinese take out on Thanksgiving. And I still have nightmares from the time I suggested that it would be a good idea for all women to give birth on Labor day. Oh, the pitch-forks and torches of the locals marching up the hill to my house!! I still shudder at the thought.

Best suggestion. Slam down a six pack and shoot off your gun on the 4th of July. Sometimes it's better to bend then get beat up.

To make eggnog yourself, start by typing "eggnog recipes" in your Yahoo search engine and start reading the search results. I can't comment about the "lemming instinct" part of the question.

Egg Nog is made in heaven by God and he only sends it to earth in December and since it's a parishable it would have ecoli by the time July rolled around. If you try to hang on to it that long you would burn in hell. But then again, you could try freezing it but I think you will still burn in hell. Better not try it just in case.
