Hi Jeff- The short answer to your question is that all of them are pretty good. The main thing to remember is you need a complete suite rather than any one stand alone product like antivirus, spyware or firewall. Most of the differences are preference based. Each is better on some apps and worse on others. Another option is a suite that is free for home use from a company called CyberDefender. You can find more information about them and download the software from http://www.cyberdefender.com./ A final word... the best protection is you. Any product can be bypassed by the user of the machine. When it comes to security, being just a little paranoid is not a bad thing.

It has comprehensive antivirus securtiy powerful spyware protection phishing freaud defense, improved wi-fi wireless protection, enhanced personal firewall, vunerability assessment, home network control, enhanced spam filtering, and advanced parental controls, it i very easy to use and even though its kinda of alot of money ($80) it is well worth it!!!!!!!!!!

Listen to "great one", however, if you want a good antivirus program for free, try Avast!. It's a lot faster and lighter on the RAM, and it'll be free forever unless you are using it for something other than home use...
Check it out, it was voted best antivirus program in 2006.

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.
i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.
besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.
download firefox for free, Just have a try:

information superhighway protection will contain an antivirus, anti undercover agent ware, anti keylogger, firewall, web site consultant, and some registry cleansing, device junk cleansing application. you may get them serious about loose. Make your own determination from each and each and every classification.

I don't know about Shield but the other four you mentioned are all well-known and well established. .. And don't download CyberDefender. Spybot Search&Destroy just removed traces of it in my registry. I downloaded, installed and then removed it about a month ago.

Norton
I tried Mcafee and there were 12 virus's it did not detect that Norton detected and removed.
