Audio devices not working properly, but the soundcard is installed - can you help?
After a Windows update my A-Open Coba AW-850 soundcard quit working. The device manager said it was installed, but when I opened up the sounds and audio devices properties box it said that there was no audio device installed. We uninstalled and reinstalled the soundcard, but that did not fix the problem. Thinking that maybe the soundcard was bad, we removed it and reinstalled the onboard audio on our motherboard (it still worked when we upgraded to the new soundcard.) It also is not working.
We uninstalled the upgrade to Windows - no luck. I've run Ad-aware, Spybot S&D, Bitdefender Online Virus Scan, a boot-time scan of my Avast antivirus, and updated Java. None of this has helped either.
As a last, desperate measure we have reinstalled Windows, but we still have no sound. Anybody have any ideas on what else we can try to get this $#%#$ computer back working?
Oh, and I tried to use System Restore to fix the problem, but mysteriously all my restore points have vanished. Sometimes I hate technology!
Drivers for the soundcard are installed. I even went to the website to make sure I had the most recent version of the drivers.

OK-this may sound stupid, but try it anyway-Right click My computer, select properties, then Hardware tab, then device manager. Expand Sound, Video and Game controllers. Find your sound card, right click it and select properties. Check to make sure that "enable this device" is selected. Then, make sure that your onboard sound is DIS-abled. Lastly, make sure that your speakers are plugged into the correct jack (usually green).
Hope this helps...

After a sparkling installation of any OS alongside with Win XP, you should set up next the motherboard chipset motive force and the drivers of all onboard contraptions (LAN, VGA, Sound, etc.). next must be drivers of contraptions that are on the PCI slots, pics slot and USB ports. then you truthfully an set up your fashionable softwares. worked for me completely in my laptops and pcs.
