Sims 2/Sims 2 Pets ~ Can't play. Help!?
I have looked all over the internet but still can't solve my problem. Everytime I click the icon to play Sims 2 Pets, it would then say "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate."
But I DO have DirectX 9.0 on my Win XP Home Edition!! Now i figure I need the RIGHT display driver. -__- My current display device is an Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller. I've updated it many times -UNSUCCESSFULLY. Did anyone have the same problem before?
My other question is: Can I download a NVIDIA GeForce Driver even if my computer has the Intel(R) display device?? Will that make my Sims 2 game work or destroy my computer instead?
I visited the intel.com link and tried to install the driver but it said I already had the NEWER version. So there's no way I'm 'reverse-updating' it to the older version. Or should i? @__@
Also, I looked up the Sims 2 game requirements and it said "Video: 32 MB". I have already played my Sims 2 game before in THIS same desktop computer! It WORKED b4 but now, when i look up my system info, it says that it's 'video/display memory' is 0.0MB. A lil' help please?
*Note: I recently reformatted my computer that's why I lost some of the drivers. (But i already fixed the rest. HONESTLY.. yet still can't play Sims 2! =(

Just because you have DirectX 9.0c installed does not mean that your graphics card is compatible with it. It is possible to install components of DirectX 9.0c without installing other parts. That being said... no integrated solution is going to play the Sims 2, even those from nvidia or ATi (so don't feel bad).
You need a dedicated graphics card like a Geforce 6600, 6600GT or well, anything, really (except the Geforce 4 series or Radeon 9200 series). If this is a laptop then there isn't much you can do about that.
If it's a desktop then you need to know what kind of expansion slot you have (AGP or PCIe).
As far as your other drivers question, when they try to install they will look for supported hardware, in your case not finding it, it would simply exit without giving you any other option.

Simple, onboard graphics is no match for the sims 2, or any other high end game.
You need a graphic card that meets the game's minimum system requirements. Find out what slot your motherboard has (PCI, AGP, PCIe) If you only have an available PCI slot its not worth buying the card but a new PC.

It looks like you need a new graphics card. Look on the box that the Sims 2 pet came with and check what type of graphics card are compatible. If yours is not there, then you most likely need to get an newer one. Also check the how much RAM your graphics card has. A driver for a specific device will not work with another device.

It sounds like you have a hardware conflict, like maybe a onboard video card and a pci card video card. if you are ok with going into biso and disable the onboard video card, use the one installed in the PCI slots hope is helps.
