Is there a way to measure time in Excel without having to enter the whole 00:00:00 format?

Question

I want to transfer data from a stopwatch study in minutes and seconds. But for data entry purposes I don't want to have to write down 0:00:32 when I want to write down 32 seconds! If I have 1 minute 40 seconds, I would love to just write 1:40, not 00:01:40. Is there a way around this?

If not is there a way to turn general numbers (e.g. 1.40) into numeric temrs so I can get (0:01:40) from a formula applied to 1.40?

Yes, sure..
Now in cell A1 type the time as you want, (like 45 seconds, or 1.53, notice it is decimals).
Then in B1, paste this
=IF( INT( D11)=D11, TIME( 0,0,D11), TIME(0, INT( D11), (D11-INT( D11))* 60))
It is kind of complicated, and may need some enhancing.
