What can cause consistent low blood pressure like 70 over 50?

Person has been diagnosed with hypo-glycemia. Ask if more details needed.

Update:

The reading was taken in dentist office before a procedure was done. The extremely low blood pressure caused by blood sugar drop has been experienced and put under control thru diet. Person is female, 5' 2" and 135 lbs, age 52. The highest reading she has had in last year is around 90 over 60.

What can cause it? An EMERGENCY.

Yes, hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) can cause it, but once the blood glucose levels are raised, the bp will improve quickly. If blood pressure was actually measured at 70/50, it must have been in the ambulance/hospital, in which case they must have explained this to the person. And if it's consistent as you say, they will not have been released from the hospital.

Is the person diabetic? What do you mean 'consistent'? Do you mean 'recurrent'?

    Hope this helps.

    PS:

For the record, low blood sugar CAN cause hypotension, particularly if there is an underlying pathology present.

'although the reason for lower than normal blood pressure isn't always clear, doctors know that the following factors can cause or contribute to low and sometimes to dangerously low':

'adrenal insufficiency (Addison's disease), low blood sugar and in some cases, diabetes'

Low blood pressure is not caused by hypoglycemia!!! First, I would question the accuracy of the reading. Was the person experiencing dizziness or lightheadness at the time? Was the blood pressure cuff too big for this persons arm? (this can cause a low reading) Who is taking the blood pressure? Dentist offices dont usually take blood pressures, so does the person know how to do so correctly? Is this person on blood pressure medication or diuretics? (this can cause low blood pressure). A blood pressure of 70/50 is very low, at this rate the person is not perfusing the organs well, especially the brain, hence the dizziness, and or lightheadness. Assuming there are no other health problems, and if there was not symptoms mentioned above, I would question the accuracy of this blood pressure. I'm a nurse by the way.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.
