Yes, they achieved a successful space launch.
"A New chapter: PSLV places four satellites in space
Agencies
Sriharikota, Jan 10: Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman Madhavan Nair said Wednesday's PSLV-C7 (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) launch had "captured back the country's confidence in our space mission".
It would take "at least eight years for a manned mission to the moon from India", Nair told reporters here after the launch, which placed in polar synchronised orbits four satellites. "
;-D Space is for everyone.

Yes,definitely a land mark.first because it was after a heartbreaking
failure wit GSLV,second because it was a multiple payload mission n third n most important because one of the satellites is a small re-entry vehicle which
our scientists are planning to bring it back after a few days in orbit. It will be our first step towards manned space missions n sometime in d near future a reusable launch vehicle or even an interplanetary mission..............looking forward to d good times ahead.INDIA rocks.

Yes, this is a great achievement for anyone, but is it just me or does anybody else think that India should be spending its billions on optimizing conditions for its citizens, being that it still is one of the poorest nations on earth? Or shouldnt they be working on reducing HIV contraction, or developing its infrastructures? It just seems to me that, while great this achievement is, they need to focus their attention on other more pressing concerns.

Wouldn't it be better if they touched a spacemark instead of a landmark?
So what is this landmark? It didn't seem to hit the headlines.
