It doesn't matter who you draft as long a Millian (sp?) is running the show.

The Lions aren't THAT far away from competing for a playoff spot if they draft right this year and get their injured players back...Just look at New Orleans...Only 3 wins last year but they drafted Bush with the second pick and got an impact receiver later!

    The Lions could do that!

I am an LSU fan and I love J. Russell...That would be a great pick for them...Brady Quinn would be ok too...Not as good as Russell but pretty good just the same!

All that said, I think the Lions should trade down in the draft, get a boat load of picks and starters from a team that needs Russell, Quinn or one of the other QB's...THIS is the best draft for the QB position in 20 years going in!...As such, Detroit's #2 pick has never been more valuable.

Detroit's #2 pick just might be the most valuable second pick in the history of the draft because of the blue chips available this year!

Trade down...Stock the team!...Kitna will get you by...Compete for the p/o's next year...Be the 2007 version of the 2006 Saints!

The Lions need help wherever they can get it, really. It just depends on what positions they are able to address through free agency, and which coaches (specifically Mike Martz), stay around next year.

With the #2 pick in the draft it is very important for the Lions to pick someone who has superstar ability, preferably not a wide receiver. A QB of the future would be a good bet. The best two prospects are Brady Quinn and JaMarcus Russell. Only Quinn, a touch passer with tremendous understanding of the game, is ideally suited to Mike Martz's offense, whearas Russell will be better suited to go #1 overall to the Oakland Raiders and their style of offense.

Since the running game in Detroit has been as poor as poor gets, and since Kevin Jones hasn't been able to stay healthy, the Lions could also consider either Adrian Peterson of Oklahoma or Marshawn Lynch of Cal. Either would be productive in the starting role, and given decent O-Line play would probably be a future Pro-Bowler.

On Defense the Lions could use help pretty much anywhere, but they need a real pass rusher, and Clemson's Gaines Adams is probably one of the best pass rushers to come out of college in a long time.

Absolutely impossible to predict what the Lions will do. Matt Millen has proven that. If history repeats itself and no lessons have been learned, Calvin Johnson or Dwayne Jarrett will end up in a receiving corps that won't flourish until they get a quarterback. It's amazing that Roy Williams has actually been able to be a talent given what he's had to work with - you've seen what's happened to Rogers and Mike Williams thus far.

I'd say their best bet is to make a deal for a QB. Ideally, I'd think packaging up some kind of deal to Atlanta for Matt Schaub would be their best option. If not, there are a number of other QB's out there that will be available that are better than what you're dealing with now. In any case, I'm not a Lions fan, but I have to admit, I don't mind seeing them win.

Best of luck next year, hope they don't take another wideout.

I agree with some of the other guys on Jamarcus Russell, he would be great for Detriot, because the Lions already have a good WR core and he would have plenty of people to throw the ball to...but I also think that they need more help on defense then on offense, but Marshall Lynch would also be great pick because of their weak running game, just depends on whose there when they are up and what the staff wants to improve the most....not sure on their but i believe they will have the 2nd or 3rd pick, but i think they should really trade down a few spots to get what they need...

There probably going to draft Brady Quinn out of Notre because they need a quarterback. The lions have a history of having terrible quarterbacks, even though Jon Kitna had a great season. He'll be in the top ten.

Unlike the previous 3 drafts, there is a worthy top 5 WR.. Calvin Johnson (best player in the draft). But Detriot can't afford to take another WR. Detriot should not take a QB because there is no QB worthy of going that high. Probably a DE or such. I would trade down if I were them.

They need a QB badly so depending on who the Raiders with the first pick select I think they should go with Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell. I'm not sure about upcoming free agents but I know they had alot of injury problems so the time off will help.

if the lions are smart in the draft they should pick Brady Quinn, then in the 2nd and 3rd round get some ofensive linemen, then 4th and 5th get some defense, in the offseason maybe try to trade Roy Williams for either Randy Moss, Javon Walker, or Chad Johnson, and they'll be set

Millan will draft like a dodo. Offense will be drafted when they really need defense. Brady Quinn will be picked first and then o-lineman and then a no namer.
