Raising funds for injured soldiers?

Unfortunately, this country seems to be ashamed of it's injured/maimed soldiers/sailors/airmen/Marines. Gov't benefits cannot support a family. Once our military is released from the hospital, they're more or less on their own. OH COME ON VA HOSPITAL FOLKS...GIVE ME A BREAK, YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE! They have to jump through numerous hoops to get help.

As for that uninformed comment about "Vietnam Veterans who roam downtown like lunatics," just because someone puts on a fatigue jacket with some patches does NOT make him a U.S. MILITARY VETERAN. Some people! sheesh!

I think this is a good idea raising money for injured soldiers and for their families. Some of them suffering really badly. It is unbelievable what the families going true with this situation. Also remember this people was sent to this wars from President Bush to Iraq/Afghanistan fighting against terrorism and for freedom for US Country. So what is so bad giving some few dollars help some of them out. I think this is a great idea. We are helping round the world for Tsunamis, Earthquakes and why not for our soldiers?

There are a few authorized and trusted resources, I have listed some here, The military PX BX system AAFES allows phone cards and gift certificates to be sent to varied groups and individuals. Then there is the "Fisher House" program.

These programs mostly assist families other than the spouse: parents, etc, and help the family stay, visit the wounded.

They do get hospitalization etc. However the government doesn't make their house wheelchair accessible or many other needs which they might have as a result of there injuries.

Some of the reserves might not even be able to go back to their old jobs because their injuries pervent them from being able to perform the job.

Yes the government and our tax dollars should be going to all requirement the soldiers might need to help them get back to life as normal as possible. It's not the case.

Yes, they should, but there are people in the military, particularly in the Marines, that would rather die than ask for help. Even if it's the benefits they're entitled to.

It is a scam...the Marines, soldiers, sailors and airmen are taken care of just fine on our tax dollars...no need to give!

Yes they should but it looks like they're not if what you're saying is true. Wouldn't surprise me.
