Oldsmobile 1984?

I have replaced the carburator with a remanufactured one. It the same exact one. The car runs great when warm to hot and its perfectly driveable. But when it first started in the morning it will have a slight miss when put into gear and it stalls too. and I have checked the timing. its about 35 to 40 degrees BTDC this is without jumpering the A B terminals for retreaving codes. the pulley mark is not even close to the scale. It says 20 degrees BTDC for the chart on the hood. I have replaced all the vaccum lines and the car does stall when I cover the Carb with my hand over it so there is no vaccum leak.

I have tried adjusting the mixture screws 1 1/2 turns out from its seating point. And 3 turns and 3 3/8 turns. still no change.

The carburator is Quadrajet with 2 eletrical connections. 4 barrel on a v8 307. It has new wires and Plugs, cap and rotor they worked just fine until the new carb was installed. it also had terrible gas mileage with the old carburator.

Update:

The choke is fine.. the plate is closed when cold and it does open when its hot. it does a fast idle when cold and it will idle down when the choke is open and engine is warm. But when I start the car in the morning. I pump the gas twice it starts and the idle is high. Then I put it into gear and the idle drops a bit but it has a misfire. But when I put back into park the miss is gone. and it idle's up alittle.( you can say it misfires under load) But the misfiring is not felt during the cold idle when the engine is running 1,500 RPM's and in park. But if you drive it around it will have the misfire when stopped at a light. but not when moving. When the engine is warmed up then it runs just fine.

Sounds like you need to adjust the choke.

I have an 1983 Oldsmobile with same engine and carburator. When setting or checking the timing on this engine, disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum advance on the distributor and plug it. Also the choke has a heat riser tube coming off the manifold, if its pluged with carbon, your choke wont work. I also found when starting engine, depress gas peddle 3 time then crank. You will have a very fast idle, let it run a minute then tap the gas peddle and idle will drop to normal. When adjusting mixture, turn screws all the way in and back them out 2 1/2 to 3 turns. Now turn screws one at a time, turn in untill engine starts to labor, back it out untill engine smouthes out, do the other screw the same way. Check your choke butterfly, with cold engine it should be 1/8 inch opening from butterfly to airhorn. Good luck hope some or all of this helps you.

Sounds like it is a simple choke problem. If you have an electric choke (bolted to the side of the carb, the electrical connections go into it), pump the gas twice, then start the engine. This should send the engine into "high idle". When it has run for a minute or two, and warmed up a little, pump the gas again, and this will turn the choke off, and return the engine to a normal idle. If your electric choke is not working, get it fixed.

all carbeurators are not the same they set the linkage to what they were the carb could be off of another car close to your make and model, make sure gaskets are correct one being used then check choke it may not be coming off fast enough

imaginitive, unique and different for its time. The Toronado grow to be the first in a chain of finished sized vehicles to employ the front wheel rigidity technologies. even with the actual incontrovertible truth that it grow to be no longer nicely gained by using the overall public, and critics hated it, authentic vehicle followers were endeared by using its 'earlier than its time' different layout, engineering and popular performance. that's one in all Jay Leno's well known vehicles.
