Is He a Wannabe Dictator?

George Bush said last week the public opinion will not affect his policy, and that public opinion should embrace his policy instead. Now he says that he does not care what Congrss says he will do what he wants regardless. Is George Bush now trying to rule as an absolute dictator, and the Constitution be damned?

you don't LEAD others by changing your mind because of what people say. However, It is OK to change your mind. A leader must look at all of the potential choices and the repercussions of those choices to make the best decision. Part of being a leader is making the tough decisions.

Heed my words, Bush is a dictator, the fact that he uses his peoples taxes to buy arms from the Carlyle Group which his father is benefiting from by being the biggest shareholder. Why not why can't he be a dictator he's going to make more money that way. He's sending 20,000 more troops in, is he not, Blood for Money and power. It doesn't matter if Bush has 8 years the next Puppet president is going to be twice as bad you wait and see. America is turning into a police state, all you have to do is go to NY and see it for yourself. People need to wake up.

He's a puppet controlled by the corporate bigwhigs. Presidential (leadership) concentration of power was previously noted in Plato's Republic. In the computer age, who cares what the people think?

If they are divided enough, there is no opposition. That plus with technological advances, opposition is easily monitored.

The Constitution of the United States is no more. Welcome to the Disunited States of Hermerica.

You bet he is.. altho' I'm sure he would call it something else. His years in the white house are going to go into history as some of the bleakest times for American democracy. He is a little Hitler and we all have to recognize it.

i wonder just what makes him think that only he, and he alone knows what is best. He's a fool and it will be proven, unfortunately another 3000 will have to die to show it.

For crying out loud, the democrats had the chance to offer an alternative plan. Cut and run is not a plan, it would bring disaster to us. But did they come up with anything, even a bad plan? No. So now you all will have to live with it!

No. He only intends to carry out his Constitutional duties. I read the constitution & there is nothing about presidents governing according to opinion polls. Congress has the power to make laws (subject to veto). The president has the power to execute those laws.

He could not get away with being a dictator in a democracy like ours. I applaud him for having the courage of his convictions!!!!

in this day of opinion polls i am glad we don't have a president, who has access to a lot more facts than we do,who wets his finger and checks which way the wind is blowing today.

we can change our minds with no repercussions,he can't.so,he has to do what he thinks is right.

George Bush is a wannabe lots of things. He is simply throwing a tantrum because he no longer has a Congress that is going to fall all over themselves to provide him with every comfort, tell him he's smart, witty, charming, or give him a checkbook full of blank checks.
