With Southern California weather you can plant all winter, unless the ground is frozen, which never happened when I lived there. Now is the time to put in all the spring bulbs. When they start blooming, start putting in the summer bulbs, like glads.

I live in Arkansas and we have very mild winters and the ground never freezes more than a few inches so there are many folk who just leave the bulbs in the ground year round (including myself). If your ground doesnt freeze or just barely, then I wouldnt see a problem with this. Call your local nursery and tell them what kind it is and ask them to be sure though.
