There's no right or wrong info; history was made by people who lived it...retold in their own way on their own experiences and views. The original story or event passed down from generation to generation, stories may have changed to appeal. History is how one makes it. Someone's experience will differ from what you or I may have gone through...just like keeping a record of events happening in your own life (in a diary).

Keep reading and have an open mind and a whole lot of imagination. History books are really interesting especially from many point of views.

Well, of all the historical books I've read, I've had a basic knowledge of what was supposed to really have happened before reading it. That way I know what's true and what's not. When you read a really great and convincing book, you have to remind yourself sometimes that it is fiction (I assume that's what you read) and not meant to be serious. If you are reading nonfiction history books then what's happening is the authors are probably using different resources that don't agree exactly with each other, lots of which are probably primary sources that have anecdotal evidence which isn't always believable. I don't want to sound mean, but perhaps your grandfa is wrong on some of the things and the book is right. Whenever reading anything always leave it open to interpretation and remember that everything you read isn't always true.

Many historians are very serious people and try to be as factual as possible, based on documents and undisputable testimonies, you know. I know it's easier for you to rely on your grandpa (I assume it's the person whom you call grandfa) but, as a seasoned man myself, I also know that my views on past events are not always accurate and often distorted by personal prejudices. Be careful about what you call "fakes" and make your own judgment on things by reading all available opinions at hand on that part of history you concentrate on.

Well you started out by asking your grandpa. See if he can point you to the right show or book to read to find out the information you need or maybe you can research family geneology and find some one with a really old translated diary from back before your grandpa was born and then you would have the facts as you want them.

First off, understand history is written by the winners, not the loosers. You are better off searching the Internet from other countries with regards to Jordan. Chances are they have written history the correct way since they are not influenced by government sensors. Be sure the information your grandfather, remembers it as it was as well.

    Good luck.

Read actual histories by reputable historians. Look in encyclopedias. Go through newspaper archives.
