Egg head or no?

Who decided that Humpty Dumpty was an egg? The nursery rhyme never said he was! If he wasn't an egg, what or who else could he have been?

    It was some guy named Mother Goose. He decided that Humpty Dumpty (being rather fat) looked like a egg. So he turned him into a egg. He was actually a Friar.
